Sometimes when we ask God for things we marvel because he doesn’t grant them the time we claim they are needed. Joseph thought God had given up on him when he was in prison but instead, God had plans for him to interpret Pharoah’s dream, years after. God delayed his freedom, and it is believed that during that time, he didn’t sit idly. He ministered to others. If he were freed during his desired time, he would have missed out on that grand opportunity of meeting Pharaoh, along with becoming prime minister.
In 2015 when God didn’t allow me to take on a job in another country, He knew what he had saved me from. My boys would have joined me months after, but only God knows what would have probably transpired during my absence. So, He blocked my path and I had no choice but to stay put. However, I was a bit saddened and had to ask, “Why Lord?” My question was answered but guess what, it took me three years to understand all that He was saying – three years after He gave me another breakthrough.
He was saying, ” I closed that country’s door as I’m preparing something else for you. With this one, you’ll acquire your desire. Your life-enhancers, your boys, will be with you every step of the way. Do you remember when you asked me to bless your womb? Well, I did it on time but with an expectation! I’m expecting you to always have them with you, so wherever you go they must go until they have grown ‘feathers and are strong enough to fly’. They shall be with you until they are mature enough to be on their own”.
We have to learn to wait on God despite our circumstances, even if we think our life depends on the help, the breakthrough. Instead of being disgruntled due to delays, rejoice. Only God knows the reasons for such delays. He knows the time that is ideal for us; He knows when we can handle what we claim we are ready to handle. Who knows, His delays may have saved us from untimely death and others. Hence, if our desires are not granted the same time, we must still praise him and have patience; He’ll come through, on time.
