Jen waited patiently in a line, on the outside of a building, for her turn to be attended to. While waiting and having an intelligent discourse with those in the line, she felt like visiting the restroom. She then told a man who was standing behind her, that she had an emergency but would be back within minutes. He told her it was ok and then off she went.
While in the restroom, it seemed some ladies had joined the line behind the man so they weren’t aware of her existence. When she took back her position, she heard them whispering but thought it was of no importance to her. However, before she could tell the man thanks, one of the ladies belched out on her. Not only did she belch, but her friends laughed thinking she had the right to display such behavior.
The lady felt good as it was four of them against an individual who they thought was just too humble and puny-puny. When they were creating their ‘trailer load’ of excitement, others were aware of what was taking place but said nothing. At that point too, Jen did nothing but pretended to be intimidated by their poisonous tongues; she gave them time to feel like winners, with teeth grinning as if they were related to the Cheshire cats’ family.
After thinking they had enough time to express themselves, it was then Jen’s turn to express how she felt about their behavior. She said: “You’re belching like you are hungry and suffering from gas. I know hunger can cause people to behave a certain way but yours is strange; you are hungry for attention. I see that your tongue is advertising disgrace but before I rest my case, please try to brush it with positive words so that grace can be evident in your face.”
By the time Jen was finished, they were no longer grinning nor talking. To Jen’s knowledge, they were either shocked or just couldn’t decipher what she said to them. Anyway, that would have been bad for them as Jen wasn’t even sure if what she said made sense any at all. However, it would seem it did as it calmed the storm.
When Jen started expressing herself, there was total silence outside the building; she thought that even the birds of the air had stopped to listen and not to mention some busy ants that she saw hunting for crumbs earlier. Anyway, she was absolutely certain that whenever those ladies see her again, they would have no other choice but to control their tongues and not belch out. As a matter of fact, she thought they would be foolish to ever belch out on anyone else again.
You see, she thought Jen was a belch-bin where she could just belch out everything and that would have been it. However, by the time Jen was through with them, they must have learned not to judge a book by its cover.
