A TRIP DURING COVID-19

During COVID-19, March 2020 to be exact, my children and I were compelled to embark on a journey. It wasn’t like any of our usual trips, so I asked some friends to help us pray for a safe flight. The plane took off at 9 am and landed at 2 pm. Usually, we would travel on public planes with many passengers, but during that time, we were not allowed to. We traveled in our own private space so that we wouldn’t have to mingle with anyone. As a matter of fact, the crew members were just three of us. And to clear the air, we didn’t choose that mode because we felt too proud, but did so out of obedience. We had to obey the law-makers as COVID-19 seems to gain energy when too many people are gathered closely together.

While traveling with only those I knew, my children, there were some dull moments. We love each other dearly but somehow we still had ‘boregasm’, a feeling caused by boredom.  Despite all that though, we had to stay together as a family; we didn’t want to risk being attacked by COVID-19. It was also a rare adventure too because we had to fly the plane ourselves, though we aren’t pilots. However, we didn’t need to worry too much because we had only traveled to a ‘Virtual School’. Due to the pandemic, schools had to be closed so face to face interaction was placed on hold. As a teacher, I continued teaching but online, and as students, my boys had to log in to their virtual classes, on Microsoft Teams. Hence, the only journey we had embarked on was a virtual journey. Strangely too, it was our first time ‘traveling’ on such a platform, so we experienced ‘virtual turbulence’ throughout. Nonetheless, it didn’t get the better of us as we exercised knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Overall, it was an awe-inspiring ‘virtual flight’.
